Glaucoma is an example of ocular disease that may affect patients of any age. Often referred to as "the silent thief of sight", glaucoma is a disease that may show no symptoms. Unfortunately, this means patients are unaware of their condition until they begin to lose sight. In our office we offer the latest technology to not only detect glaucoma, but to monitor and control the condition. We currently use the Optical coherence Tomographer (HD-OCT) to detect and monitor glaucoma.
This highly sensitive computerized instrument is an imaging method to scan the the retina and detect damaged nerves in the early phases of glaucoma. We also use the Humphrey threshold Visual field instrument and digital retinal photography to follow all our glaucoma patients. With this advanced technology and prescription eye drops we can control glaucoma and preserve vision.
